The successful candidate will serve ona part-time basis as aphysician in the specialty of Pulmonary Medicine at theSavannahCommunity Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) for the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center. Employee provides comprehensive clinical services to Veterans and their families within the CBOC. The preferred candidate will be well trained in Pulmonary Medicine.Duties will include outpatient evaluation and treatment of patients with complex pulmonary issues and interpretation of pulmonary function tests. Radiological services including CT scanning is available at the Savannah CBOC. ThePulmonologist will be under the service of Medicine andPulmonary at the VA Medical Center in Charleston, SC, and will have access to supportive comprehensive pulmonary services offered there.
Work Schedule:Alternate schedules may be available of up to 64 hours a pay period.

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of residency training or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Physician Staff Requirements:
Staff Physician. None beyond the basic requirements. The individual must qualify to perform duties as a physician, have completed an accredited residency and/or possess experience which has qualified the individual to perform general duties and some specialized functions and procedures without supervision. Staff physicians may also include attendings who train physician residents assigned in facilities with residency training programs, and consultants who are capable of giving authoritative views and opinions on subjects in their field of medicine.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
