Responsible for managing all functions associated with shuttle bus operations which includes providing an exceptional experience to patients, guests and Geisinger family members in an attentive, friendly and efficient manner. The supervisor is responsible for shuttle bus drivers including hiring, training, scheduling, creating routes, managing special event requests, proper maintenance of vehicles and ensuring all records are properly maintained in accordance with federal, state and hospital policies and procedures.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Ability to read, write and communicate in standard English. Must be able to write simple correspondence.
Ability to work a variety of varying schedules.
Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with minimum supervision.
Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger.
Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks at once.
Must be able to read, understand and complete driver’s trip sheet/vehicle log book and deadline form. Must be able to read and understand interoffice communications, schedules, maps and other documents.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Requires high school diploma and three years’ experience interacting with people in a supervisory, management, service atmosphere or related role.
Customer service experience required.
Current valid PA Commercial Driver License Class B with P endorsement required.
Valid DOT physical card required.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is typically performed in a transportation vehicle or office. Typical physician demands include ability to assist physically challenged patients and guests on and off the vehicle. Requires sitting and driving a vehicle for an extended period of time. Requires the ability to lift patients and push and pull wheelchairs.
