The Category Manager works collaboratively in a team based environment to optimize the selection, standardization and utilization of supplies and services
for the Geisinger Health System organization. This position along with the Senior Director of Purchased Services and Capital, works closely with health system
platform operations leaders, clinicians, and finance personnel to identify, implement, and monitor optimal product and service utilization.
In addition, this position has operational responsibility in collaboration with Supply Chain Logistics and Supply Chain Information Systems to ensure that services
are priced accurately, available timely, carried in the appropriate quantities and locations, and delivered in the most efficient manner to meet patient care needs.
This position has direct oversight of sourcing staff and matrixed oversight of support services for the area including negotiations, contract management, analytics,
and customer service.
The Category Manager utilizes analytics and benchmarking tools and keeps abreast of new technologies and services to provide strategic direction, leadership
and accountability for efficient and effective total cost of ownership management of non-labor expenditures across the Geisinger Health System. This includes
development and maintenance of supplier and end-user relationships to jointly drive cost savings, confirm compliance to current contracts, explore service changes
and/or standardization opportunities with the assigned category, and to ensure procurement of quality products and services.
Skills include advanced data analytics, strategic sourcing techniques, strong project management, advanced problem solving, global market analysis, competitive
bidding, negotiation, and ability to communicate appropriately with all levels of the organization. Is required to execute Geisinger standards in the supply market
and interface with business leadership to ensure that effective supply management of the spend portfolio occurs at all levels of the organization and that business
requirements and needs are met. Is responsible for portfolios of spend typically in excess of $50 Million dollars. Provides leadership and/or support to sourcing
teams and other staff as needed.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree required. Business and/or clinical background/education preferred.
Advanced degree (MBA) is preferred.
Professional certification (CPM, CMRP, APICS) preferred.
Minimum of five years sourcing and purchasing related experience required. Experience in a multi-facility healthcare setting with demonstration of progressive
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is typically performed in an office environment. Must be willing to do moderate amount of traveling throughout the System to accomplish goals.
Position qualifies as Work From Home (WFH) eligible, according to Supply Chain Services WFH policy #12.07 on file but majority of time is spent on Geisinger sites.
