Description Provides medical nutritional therapy to patients by assessing nutritional status, developing a plan of care to maintain or improve nutritional status, periodically evaluating the patient's response to the plan of care, and modifying it as required for optimal outcomes. Counsels patients and/or families about food requirement, eating habits, and therapeutic nutrition. Responsibilities include the ability to work with physicians in developing recommendations for individualized nutritional treatment plans for their patients. Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or related field. CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Valid registration as a Registered Dietician. Board Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition (CSO) required, or obtained within 2 years. Certification as required by the state of New Mexico SKILLS: * Analytical thinking, customer focus, drive and dependability, stress tolerance/flexibility, interpersonal relationships, integrity, communication, and technical skills required. EXPERIENCE: 2 years as a Registered Dietician, preferably in an oncology clinical setting or outpatient clinic. NATURE OF SUPERVISION: -Responsible to: Director, Cancer Center ENVIRONMENT: - Bloodborne pathogen B General office environment, frequent contact with patients, VDT exposure. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to handle crisis situations. Has knowledge of and uses good body mechanics. Long periods of sitting at times. Keyboard usage with sound ergonomic principles. Must be flexible in work schedule.
