You Will Be Responsible For:
This position is responsible for providing hands-on training and support to the clinical staff regarding the Cerner EMR (soon to be EPIC) and other computerized programs and products to ensure maximum utilization of all applications.
Attends the Corporate All Educator Call and disseminates system changes to correct clinical departments. Coordinates methods with department directors.
Addresses all corporate emails on clinical system changes and determines who should receive education on them. Disseminates all these materials out based on a logical plan.
Conducts new user training for Nurses, LPNs, CNAs, RTs and others, as needed.
Coordinates a training plan for all students, ED staff, Surgery staff, PT, OT SP, Dietary, Radiology Staff and all other clinicians except for Physicians, Mid-Level Providers rounding Nurses and Scribes.
Develops and maintains curricula by discipline for all new user training in the form of an outline, relevant handouts, and a competency.
Acts as the knowledge leader for the AdventHealth Learning system (ALN).
Keeps all end user lists accurate within ALN
Keeps a current list of all learning modules related to EMR training CBLS used for all new hires by disciplines and assigns out these modules prior to orientation.
Assists the Physician Liaisons in keeping the provider lists within ALN accurate.
Assigns out CBLS learning modules, tracks and reports completion rates for all new AH Informatics projects.
Becomes proficient in creating and assigning learning modules within the ALN system.
Develops facility specific informatics education for clinical staff.
Promotes correct workflow and use of the electronic medical record (EMR) and other software systems and devices for the best and highest use to maximize patient safety and promote efficient and paperless use of the EMR.
Assists in trouble shooting and working with IT.
Takes calls from within the facility to help troubleshoot EMR issues.
Assists all end users in solving system related issues including access and proper use.
Regularly rounds with clinical staff to identify workflow inefficiencies and incorrect process. Takes steps to correct these.
Coordinates staff education for all software updates and downtime procedures.
Tests new EMR upgrades and changes. Evaluates impact on workflow and conducts education on these changes for clinical staff.
Assists Clinical Informatics Lead in scheduled and unscheduled downtimes. Trains new hires on downtime procedures.
Assists in developing informatics policies for the hospital. Knows, understands and can communicate all hospital and corporate policies that impact clinical informatics.
Keeps a useable data base of all clinical Informatics education materials used at this facility, organized for easy retrieval.
Submits training/education reports and requests for information by established deadlines.
Is responsible for producing analytic use measures and communicating them out.
Performs performance improvement projects around the use of the EMR.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You Will Need:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiency
Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to develop training materials in the form of flyers, computer-based learning modules.
Ability to work independently, organize, manage and prioritize tasks.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
BSN or other bachelor’s degree.
OR equivalent experience in a Clinical Informatics position.
Experience teaching or training in a clinical discipline or a computer application.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
Clinical Certification or degree, i.e. RN, RT, EMT, etc.
Licensed Registered Nurse OR comparable experience in another hospital based clinical discipline.
