What does the Radiation Therapist do? The Radiation Therapist may be required to perform the duties of radiation therapist, mold technician and basic Dosimetry duties in order to maintain a high-quality care environment. Assists in supervision of simulation therapists, radiation therapists and mold technicians in order to effectively deliver a high-quality radiation therapy treatment course for each patient presented. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities:
The essential duties and responsibilities: - Assists with interviewing, hiring, and training designated employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; and rewarding and disciplining employees.
- Serves as mentor to employees in radiation oncology department.
- Responsible for the instruction of newly hired radiation staff and radiation therapy students on all equipment applicable.
- Maintains patient appointment schedule and submits correct billing information.
- Accurately delivers and records radiation therapy treatments under the direction of a radiation oncologist.
- May assist in chart audits and QA procedures.
- May participate in development of QA procedures.
- Accurately interprets a computerized treatment plan.
- Accurately cuts blocks and makes custom molds.
- Accurately enters and maintains patient treatment parameters into the electronic medical record.
- Accurately completes simple mu calculation.
- May review and amend patient billing for accuracy.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Radiation Therapist will have the following background and experience: - Graduate of an accredited radiation therapy program.
- Minimum five years actively practicing as an RTT.
- ARRT certification required.
- Valid state license for radiation therapy required.
