Summary: Under direct supervision, perform all duties related to registering patients being admitted to the medical center or receiving outpatient services by obtaining demographic, insurance, and medical information.

Responsibilities: Interview patient or patients representatives to obtain demographic and insurance information necessary for medical records identification and billing process. Uses the 2 identifiers, patient name and date of birth. Inputs registration information into computer system, verifies accuracy of data entered, pre-reg accounts, activates accounts and scans appropriate documents. Prepares required forms for signature by patient or patients representative and insures that each is explained and presented. Processes Oncology outpatient electronic record for Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology. Follows up with referring physicians office to collect additional records if needed. Verifies Insurance eligibility 100% and medical necessity, using websites (HDX) and computer applications. This includes new and established patients. Verifies if patient needs referral for physician visits. Understands when patient is self-pay, refer all Oncology patients to Care coordinator, all Hematology patient are given a PFS brochure (patient financial services).Facilitates patient and information flow by directing patients to correct locations, and arranging patient transport. Understands how to schedule patients for TCC Van services provided by TCC. Triage all calls coming into TCC for Scheduling, Triage, Infusion, doctors etc. Understands how to use the various task pads. Assist in care and maintenance of office equipment, building and supplies. Informs Admin Assistant by email of any work orders needed for equipment or repairs. Any computer related issues should be reported to the helpdesk by phone and follow up with an email to helpdesk and cc: TCC's Analyst, desk top person, and include your manager. Understands how to utilize the following systems: Varian/Aria (MO & RO), DI (Document Imaging), DHIN (Delaware Health Information Network), Gold, Provider Portal, Web sites for insurance verification/eligibility and other systems as needed. Assist with sorting and mailing out dictation. Understands how to go into system to reprint dictation if missing. Medical Records understands the HIPPA & PHI requirements for patients and other facilities requesting medical records. Faxing, filing, and sorting mail. Collects all documents that need to be scanned from all areas. Documents that need to be scanned should be done in real time and readable. PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.
