General Description:
The Center Administrator is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the administrative, financial, and operational aspects of the Connecticut Proton Therapy Center (CPTC). The Center Administrator should be technically and theoretically competent with a broadened knowledge base in the management of Radiation Oncology patients and staff. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to planning, directing, and coordinating development of short- and long-term objectives and is responsible for achieving the organization’s financial and non-financial goals.
The Center Administrator will develop, lead and execute strategies aligned with CPTC’s mission and vision. The position will serve as the liaison/point of contact for customers, agencies, groups and the community-at-large as the advocate for proton therapy services in legislative, philanthropic, third-party payer and community settings. This position will be responsible for center oversite and for compliance with all regulatory authorities and ensuring appropriate competency and licensure of over 30 highly skilled radiation oncology professionals.
Responsibilities:
Duties in the first year of employment:
- Establishing operational policies and procedures
- Hiring of center staff including job description review, job postings, scheduling of interviews, and administrative onboarding
- Local and State Licensure including CON reporting and submissions
- Implement revenue cycle process while coordinating with revenue cycle team
- Managing project plan and working with the PI/PHT team to ensure a smooth transition into the center in preparation for first patient Fall 2026
Ongoing Duties:
- Plans, coordinates and is accountable for major administrative and clinical activities including grants and contracts, budget planning, financial analysis, data process operations, and human resources management for the center
- Administers policies and procedures for the center and updates as needed
- Handles human resource related issues, and is accountable for the hiring, onboarding, disciplinary actions, termination and salary decisions for the center
- Works with the CEO and Medical Director to develop, administer and monitor the capital equipment and operational budgets as approved by the JV Board of the Directors for the center
- Develops plan to ensure that generated clinical revenues increase each year while managing expenses
- Works with the CEO and Medical Director to develop, promote, implement and achieve the Center’s strategic plans as approved by the JV Board of Directors and monitors progress through dashboards and other management information tools
- Develops and implements various clinical and administrative programs to enhance staff skills to improve the effectiveness of clinical services; develops new programs to ensure the growth of the department and meet the changing demands for new services
- Develops and implements formal training and development programs for staff
- Manages the clinical operational and patient experience components of the center including concierge services for patient traveling to the center
- Recruits and supervises staff to support clinical, research and administrative activities
- Maintain local and state licenses and reporting
- Manages the center’s clinical operations, tracking and distributing clinical data, analyzing clinical performance, identifying opportunities for process improvements; and realizing efficiencies
